TikTok Shop New Seller Onboarding Checklist 2026: The Compliance-First Setup Guide
Your AHR Starts at 200. The Clock Starts at Order #1.
A new TikTok Shop seller shipped 14 orders in week one. Three were late. That’s a 21.4% LDR on day seven, and TikTok was already watching.
Don’t let your first week destroy your account

Start 14-day free trialYour Account Health Rating starts at 200 points the moment your shop goes live, and the same thresholds that apply to a seller with 10,000 orders apply to you on order #1. TikTok does place new shops into a Shop Probation period during onboarding, but AHR scoring and metric enforcement are active from your first order. Probation does not reduce or delay compliance consequences.
Most onboarding guides stop at “upload your ID and link your bank account.” This one starts where they stop: the compliance setup that determines whether your shop survives the first 30 days.
Why Most New Seller Guides Are Incomplete
Every TikTok Shop onboarding tutorial covers the same five steps: register, verify identity, add products, set up shipping, link bank account.
A low-volume shop can exceed the 4% LDR threshold with a single late order. A Friday evening order is not late just because it sits over the weekend (weekends are not business days), but it becomes late if it is not In Transit within 2 business days of entering Awaiting Shipment status. With only 10 total orders, one missed deadline puts you at 10% LDR.
What AHR score do new TikTok Shop sellers start with?
Every new TikTok Shop seller starts with 200 Account Health Rating (AHR) points on a 0-1,000 scale where higher means healthier. According to TikTok’s Account Health Rating documentation (updated March 2026), enforcement milestones occur at 150, 100, 50, and 0 points. At 150 points, sellers lose the ability to create new listings for 7 days. At 100 points, restrictions extend to 14 days. At 50 points, 28 days. At 0, the account is permanently deactivated. New sellers earn 4 AHR points per 200 completed orders, up to 20 points per week. At low order volume (50 orders/month), that means roughly 1 point of recovery per month. As of March 2026, AHR scoring is active from the first order, and TikTok’s Shop Probation during onboarding does not delay metric enforcement. Sellers should treat those initial 200 points as a non-renewable resource during the first 30 days.
As of March 2026, TikTok Shop uses the AHR system for US sellers (UK seller enforcement may follow a similar model, but official UK-specific AHR documentation has not been independently verified). It’s a 0-1,000 point scale where higher means healthier. You start at 200. Drop to 150 and you lose the ability to create new listings for 7 days. Drop to 0 and your account is permanently deactivated.
For a deep dive into how AHR enforcement works at every threshold, see our Account Health Rating guide.
The checklist below covers what you actually need to configure, understand, and monitor to protect those 200 points.
The 2026 New Seller Onboarding Checklist
Step 1: Complete Registration (But Don’t Stop Here)
Individual sellers: Valid government ID, proof of address, linked bank account
Business sellers: Business license, EIN/tax documents, company bank details
Tax info: Submit W-9 with valid TIN to avoid 24% withholding on payouts
Official TikTok account: Link one account per shop (becomes a Business Account)
Approval takes 3-5 business days. Use this time for Steps 2-7.
Step 2: Configure Your Warehouse and Pickup Schedule
This is where compliance starts. Your warehouse setup directly affects whether orders ship on time.
A Friday 6 PM order has a dispatch deadline of Tuesday 11:59 PM PST (2 business days, skipping Saturday and Sunday). If your carrier doesn’t pick up until Wednesday morning, that order is late. For weekend order handling, see our Friday 6PM Orders guide.
Step 3: Understand Business Day Counting
TikTok’s dispatch SLA is 2 business days. This sounds simple. It isn’t.
How are business days counted for TikTok Shop dispatch SLA?
TikTok Shop’s dispatch SLA is 2 business days, and the counting rules are specific. According to TikTok’s dispatch policy documentation (updated March 2026), business days are Monday through Friday only, excluding weekends and US federal holidays. The order placement day does not count toward the SLA. For example, an order placed Wednesday starts counting Thursday (Day 1), with a dispatch deadline of Friday 11:59 PM PST (Day 2). A Friday evening order skips Saturday and Sunday entirely: Monday is Day 1, Tuesday 11:59 PM PST is the deadline. Holiday weekends extend this further. A Thursday order before Memorial Day (Monday) would not be due until Tuesday, since Monday is skipped. The dispatch cutoff time for US sellers is 11:59 PM PST. Sellers should map out their carrier pickup schedules against these deadlines to avoid missed dispatch windows.
| Holiday | Date | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Memorial Day | Mon, May 25 | Thursday orders due Tuesday (Monday skipped) |
| Independence Day | Fri, Jul 3 (observed) | Wednesday orders due Monday Jul 6 |
| Labor Day | Mon, Sep 7 | Thursday orders due Tuesday (Monday skipped) |
| Thanksgiving | Thu, Nov 26 | Tuesday orders due Friday Nov 27 |
| Christmas | Fri, Dec 25 | Wednesday orders due Monday Dec 28 |
For the complete 2026 deadline calculator, see our Business Days guide.
Step 4: Set Up Your Carrier Correctly
As of January 26, 2026, TikTok requires that orders are picked up and scanned by carriers within the 2-business-day SLA. The order status must change to In Transit in Seller Center.
Printing a label does not count. Marking “shipped” in ShipStation or Shopify does not count if TikTok’s system still shows “Awaiting Shipment.” The carrier scan is the only thing that matters.
Choose a carrier with reliable same-day or next-day scan times. If you drop off packages at a FedEx location at 7 PM, they may not scan until the next morning. That’s one day of your 2-day window, gone.
Step 5: Learn Your Four Compliance Metrics
TikTok monitors four metrics that affect your AHR. Violate any of them, and you lose points.
What compliance metrics does TikTok Shop monitor for sellers?
TikTok Shop monitors four core compliance metrics that affect your Account Health Rating. According to TikTok’s Seller University documentation (updated March 2026): Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) must stay at or below 4%, measuring orders not In Transit within 2 business days. Valid Tracking Rate (VTR) must be at least 95%, tracking orders with accurate, verifiable tracking numbers. Seller Fault Cancellation Rate (SFCR) must stay at or below 2.5%, measuring cancellations caused by seller error such as out-of-stock items or pricing mistakes. On-Time Delivery Rate (OTDR) must be at least 80%, measuring orders delivered within 6 business days. Violating any metric deducts AHR points based on severity and frequency. As of March 2026, these thresholds apply from a seller’s very first order with no probationary reduction. New sellers should monitor all four metrics daily during their first 30 days.
| Metric | Threshold | What It Measures |
|---|---|---|
| Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) | ≤ 4%; >10% enforcement | % of orders not In Transit within 2 business days |
| Valid Tracking Rate (VTR) | ≥ 95% | % of orders with accurate, verifiable tracking numbers |
| Seller Fault Cancellation Rate (SFCR) | ≤ 2.5% | % of orders cancelled due to seller error |
| On-Time Delivery Rate (OTDR) | ≥ 80% | % of orders delivered within 6 business days |
What is the Late Dispatch Rate threshold for TikTok Shop?
The Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) threshold on TikTok Shop is 4%, with additional enforcement actions when LDR exceeds 10%. According to TikTok’s Seller University documentation (updated March 2026), LDR measures the percentage of orders not marked as In Transit within 2 business days of entering Awaiting Shipment status. Business days are Monday through Friday only, excluding US federal holidays. The order placement day does not count. For new sellers with low order volume, a single late order has outsized impact: one late order out of 20 total equals a 5% LDR, already above the recommended threshold. As of March 2026, the carrier scan (not label creation or OMS status) is what TikTok checks to determine In Transit status. Sellers should verify their carrier scan times before scaling order volume.
With low order volume, every single late order has outsized impact. If you have 20 orders in your first week and 1 ships late, that’s a 5% LDR, already above the 4% recommendation. Two late orders = 10%, which is at the enforcement boundary where additional actions may apply.
For a breakdown of exactly what happens when your LDR crosses 4.8%, see our LDR 4.8% emergency guide.
Step 6: Build Your First-Week Dispatch Workflow
Your first week is the highest-risk period. You’re learning the platform, your carrier relationship is untested, and your order volume is unpredictable.
Check Seller Center for orders in “Awaiting Shipment” status
Process and pack all orders. Leave buffer before carrier pickup.
Carrier handoff. Confirm physical pickup, not just label creation.
Verify scan. Check that TikTok Seller Center shows “In Transit.”
End-of-day audit. Any order still in “Awaiting Shipment” with a deadline tomorrow is a T-12 alert situation.
Friday and Saturday orders don’t start counting until Monday. Process weekend orders on Monday morning, first thing. Deadline for most weekend orders: Tuesday 11:59 PM PST. Do NOT assume you have until Wednesday. Count the days.
For what happens if you miss your dispatch window entirely, see what to do when suspended for late dispatch.
Step 7: Set Up Compliance Monitoring From Day One
Your first 30 days determine your trajectory. One bad week can drop your AHR below 150 (listing restrictions for 7 days) before you’ve even built momentum.
SellerOps Watcher sends T-24, T-12, and T-4 hour alerts before every dispatch deadline. The Exception Queue surfaces at-risk orders before they go late. At $29/month for up to 1,000 orders, it replaces the manual daily audit with automated monitoring from your first order. Start your 14-day free trial.
The First 30 Days: What Separates Surviving Sellers From Suspended Ones
Here’s what consistently separates new sellers who keep their accounts healthy from those who don’t:
Sellers who survive the first 30 days
Ship zero late orders in week one (even if that means only listing 5 products initially). Use a carrier with confirmed same-day scan times. Process orders daily, not in batches every 2-3 days. Understand that “shipped” in their OMS is not “shipped” in TikTok’s system.
Result: AHR stable at 200+
Sellers who get AHR restrictions in the first 30 days
List 50+ products before confirming their dispatch workflow. Assume weekend orders can wait until Monday afternoon. Use a carrier that scans packages 24-48 hours after pickup. Don’t check Seller Center daily.
Result: AHR below 150, listing restrictions
The difference isn’t luck. It’s preparation.
Starting AHR points. You earn 4 points per 200 completed orders. At 50 orders/month, that’s +1 point per month. Fulfillment violations deduct points based on severity and frequency, and at low volume, recovery takes months. Prevention is not optional.
Common New Seller Onboarding Mistakes
List 3-5 products. Ship a few orders. Confirm carrier scan times. Then scale. Your AHR doesn’t care about your product catalog ambitions.
Read The 48-Hour Deadline: What TikTok Actually Checks. It’s 2 business days, not 48 clock hours. The distinction matters most around weekends and holidays.
ShipStation, Shopify, and other platforms can show “shipped” status while TikTok Seller Center still shows “Awaiting Shipment.” The carrier scan is what TikTok checks. Verify integration sync by testing with real orders.
Without a valid TIN on file, TikTok withholds 24% of your payouts. This isn’t a compliance metric, but it’s cash flow that new sellers can’t afford to lose.
Sellers who achieve their first sale within 60 days of completing onboarding receive a discounted 3% referral fee rate for 30 days. Don’t leave money on the table.

Does TikTok give new sellers a grace period for compliance metrics?
Not for AHR scoring. As of March 2026, your Account Health Rating starts at 200 points on day one, and the same LDR, VTR, SFCR, and OTDR thresholds apply to your first order as they do to your ten-thousandth. TikTok does place new shops into Shop Probation during onboarding, but this does not reduce or delay metric enforcement. For the full AHR breakdown, see our Account Health Rating guide.
What’s the fastest way to tank my AHR as a new seller?
Missing dispatch deadlines on low volume. If you have 15 orders and 2 ship late, your LDR is 13.3%. That’s above the 10% enforcement trigger. With only 200 starting AHR points and slow point recovery at low volume (4 points per 200 orders), a bad first week can take months to recover from.
How long does TikTok Shop seller approval take?
Registration approval takes 3-5 business days. Use the waiting period to set up your warehouse, test your carrier, understand business day counting, and configure your dispatch workflow. Don’t wait for approval to start preparing.
What happens if my AHR drops below 150 in my first month?
You lose the ability to create new listings and enroll in promotional campaigns for 7 days. For a new seller still building their catalog, this is devastating. At 100 points, restrictions extend to 14 days. At 50, it’s 28 days. At 0, permanent deactivation.
Can I use Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) to avoid dispatch compliance issues?
Fulfillment method determines which metrics apply. For orders fulfilled by TikTok (FBT), dispatch is handled by TikTok’s logistics network, so your direct dispatch obligations differ from self-shipped orders. However, current official documentation does not support a blanket “FBT = exempt from all LDR” simplification: metric treatment varies across FBT, seller-shipped, and TikTok-managed fulfillment methods. As of March 2026, FBT availability is evolving. Most new sellers start with self-fulfillment, which means full compliance responsibility from day one.
